Hotels With EV Charging in Sunrise, Hollywood, and Tamarac

Why the EV charging checkbox on a booking site is not a reservation, the seven questions a front desk can actually answer, where the hotels with chargers sit in each of the three cities, and the backup plan when the hotel charger lets you down.

Hotels that list EV charging in Hollywood sit on the beach along A1A and the Broadwalk; in Sunrise they follow Sawgrass Mills and the Sawgrass Expressway exits; Tamarac has few, mostly along Commercial Boulevard near the Turnpike. The listing is the least reliable part of the trip: the checkmark says a property claimed a charger once, not how many ports there are, whether they work this week, or whether a guest is parked on the cable. Call the front desk before you book and keep a backup plan for the night it fails. Rapid Charge EV is that backup plan: a charge delivered to the hotel lot or valet lane, across Broward, wherever the property lets the truck in.

How do you find Broward hotels that list EV charging?

Start with the amenity filter on the booking site, then open each property page and read the parking section word for word. A hotel that writes a sentence about its chargers usually has them. A checkmark alone may mean one port in a corner of the garage or a charger removed years ago. Before you call, search the hotel's street address in a charging map app that shows user check-ins. A listing with a successful session logged this month tells you more than the booking site; one with no check-ins in a year usually means the charger is gone. Shortlist the two or three that pass both tests, then call each one.

What should you ask the front desk before you book?

  1. How many charging ports do you have? One or two for a whole hotel means you compete with every other EV guest.
  2. Level 2 or DC fast? Level 2 is the normal overnight hotel charger and adds range over hours, not minutes. DC fast in a hotel lot is rare; if they claim one, ask which connector it has.
  3. Guests only, or open to the public? A public charger in a hotel lot is often occupied by someone who is not a guest.
  4. Valet-only? If so, will the valet actually plug the car in and move it when the session ends?
  5. First come, first served, or can a guest reserve a port? Most cannot be reserved. Write down the answer.
  6. Are the chargers working today? Heat, rain, and salt air wear outdoor connectors, and staff know when one has been dead for a month.
  7. Can I reach the charger overnight and leave the car on it until morning? Some garages lock overnight.

Book the property that gave the clearest answers. If every answer is vague, assume the hotel has no usable charger.

Where are the hotels with chargers in Sunrise, Hollywood, and Tamarac?

In Sunrise the hotels follow Sawgrass Mills, the largest outlet mall in Florida, and the Sawgrass Expressway exits. The nearest public charging is the mall's own chargers, which saturate on holiday weekends, sale events, and arena nights. If the hotel port is taken, charge at the mall early in the day, not at closing time.

Hollywood hotels line the beach along A1A and the Broadwalk, with the Hard Rock on the west end. The nearest public charging sits along Hollywood Boulevard and US-1, with fast charging north and south of the city. Public fast charging east of US-1 is scarce and fills in season, so check a map app before you rely on it; on the beach a confirmed hotel port matters more than anywhere else in this guide. If the port is taken, cross US-1 before dinner, not after.

Tamarac is residential, west of the Turnpike, and its few hotels sit along Commercial Boulevard near the Turnpike exit. Local public charging is thin, and the nearest dependable sites are usually in Sunrise or Plantation, so here the front-desk call is the plan. If the hotel port is taken, do not wait for it; drive to Sunrise while you have the range, or have a charge brought to the lot. The Broward County hub covers the cities around all three.

What is the plan when the hotel charger does not work?

If you arrived with margin, drive to a public fast charger before you unpack. If the car is low, the charger is broken, or the valet will not plug in, have a charge brought to the hotel. Emergency mobile EV charging typically arrives in 30 to 60 minutes across Broward, traffic permitting, the technician parks beside the car in the lot or the valet lane once the property lets the truck in, and the session runs 15 to 45 minutes for roughly 15 to 50 miles, a typical range that varies by vehicle and battery level. Every truck carries NACS, CCS-1, and J-1772.

Better still, book a scheduled charging visit for checkout morning: the car charges in the lot while you pack and eat breakfast, and you leave with the range to reach the next stop or the airport. When you call, give the hotel name and address, self-park or valet, the garage level or lot section, a front-desk or valet-stand number so the technician can be let in, and the make, model, and battery percentage. The Broward County mobile charging guide covers how scheduled and emergency calls work countywide.

Which trip habits make the hotel charger optional?

  • Charge during dinner, not at bedtime. A session near the restaurant finishes while you eat and skips the overnight queue.
  • Ask for the stall number at check-in. If the port is in use, ask the desk to note that you are next; it is the only queue most hotels have.
  • Longer stays need a routine. Visitors staying weeks rather than nights should read the snowbird charging guide.

The Miami Beach hotel charging guide covers the same problems in a denser, event-driven setting.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it OK to leave my car on the hotel charger all night?
If the hotel has one or two ports, no. A Level 2 session usually does its useful work in a few hours, and a car parked on the cable until morning blocks every guest who arrives after you. Plug in at dinner, move the car before bed, and tell the desk the spot is free. If the property has a full row of ports and told you so on the phone, an overnight charge is fine.
Can I reserve the charging spot when I reserve the room?
At most hotels, no. Charging spots are usually first come, first served, and the staff cannot hold one for an arriving guest. Ask anyway, because a few properties do take requests, and note the answer. If the spot cannot be held, plan your arrival charge as if the hotel had no charger and treat anything you find as a bonus.
Can a mobile charging truck get into a hotel garage or valet lane?
Usually yes for a surface lot or an open valet lane. For an underground garage the technician needs the clearance height and a level the truck can reach, and in a valet lot the stand has to release the key or bring the car out. Give the desk or valet-stand number when you call so the truck is let in, and have the car brought to the lane if the garage is tight.
Is it better to book the hotel with a charger or the one near a public fast charger?
Book for the location you want, then treat charging as a separate decision. A hotel port you confirmed by phone is convenient but still shared, and it can be occupied or broken on the one night you need it. A public fast charger you have checked nearby is a dependable fallback with no front desk in the loop. If both hotels are otherwise equal, pick the one whose staff gave clear answers, and check a public site within ten minutes of either one.
